OVERVIEW & DETAILED DESCRIPTION

Our Tagetes Essential Oil, alternatively known as Tagetes Marigold Essential Oil, is meticulously steam distilled from the bright-orange flowers of the Tagetes minuta plant, commonly referred to as Mexican Marigold. This essential oil emanates a robust, warm, and sweet-herbaceous fragrance, characterized by its distinct ketonic (pungent) aroma. Complementing its intense profile is a remarkably potent fruity undertone, reminiscent of the crispness of green apple.

Tagetes, belonging to the Asteraceae family, commonly referred to as Southern Cone Marigold, originates from the southern regions of South America. Having been introduced to various regions globally, it has successfully naturalized in Europe, Asia, Australasia, North America, and Africa. This tall, upright plant bears petite flowers and features simple leaves with an alternate arrangement, often lobed but not separated into leaflets. The leaf blade typically exhibits both teeth and lobes. The flower head comprises tubular disk and ray flowers.

Although commonly referred to as Marigold, it’s important to note that Tagetes Essential Oil should not be mistaken for Calendula Oil (Calendula officinalis), which shares the same common name.
